Awake

Comments: Somehow AU, just a drabble about Faith's comma.

It was horrible, she thought staring at the ceiling. Being back. It was more than the fact she didn't know yet if she wanted or not to be back. While asleep, everything was horrible but onirical, the sort of things that happen in sleep and make you think "I'm not awake, it's a dream, so everything will be OK as soon as my brain notices it's time to get up". The only problem was that for Faith things weren't better awake. Her head hurt and her body was still sedated, things fell from her fingers when she tried to grab them and her knees hurt as she was an 80-aged granny. And the missing.

How she missed her.

The feeling grew stronger and uninvited the moment she closed her eyes. For eight months she had seen her everyday, or every night, never minded, the time doesn't pass the same in comma. Sometimes they fought, sometimes they talked, but Buffy was always there, always everywhere so she wasn't alone. Now she was awake and Buffy were real and unreachable.

Can you love someone who tried to kill you? And she did, in fact. Tried and accomplished to kill her for eight months, but in the world they both lived in, everybody can return.

Now Faith had returned she really didn't know wether to kill Buffy or kiss her.

Faith closed her eyes feeling a deep pain in the eyelids, the skin vanishing, and opened them wide sweating in fear. What if she never could close her eyes again? What if she lost her eyelids now she had closed her eyes for too long? Eyes wide open forever, and a sleepless life. A dreamless one.

Last dream had been the darkest, by far. There was no blood, no monsters and no screams. A shiny big empty room was all she could see, and Buffy was there too. Somehow, Faith knew Buffy wanted to know. They had been there for hours, or days, anyway it was the first time she wanted to leave.

- Why? - Faith asked. It felt rather unconcerning, since she always was back hours later. So Buffy closed the door and Faith thought she would be back, as usual.

Just that she didn't. Maybe that's why she had awaken. To make her come back.
